Background
Similar to another video in my portfolio, and happening around the same time, we, as a group, wanted to highlight what could happen if we could be smart enough to connect people, their data, and make travel expenses better.
Connect people was sort of the win, in our book, could we say to a traveling person that, “hey you are in a building with a former teammate, grab a coffee to catchup?”
Process
We had a brainstorming chat basically, A PM who sat in our area and worked with put together the overall flow/concept. I created keyframes, and together, we all went into cleaning up the script, worked on what visual assets we wanted to support the story, and I got to animating.
It took a week or so of back and forth, a couple of iteration and we had this video. My memory is a bit hazy to exactly the timeline because this was 2014, a decade+ ago.
Outcome
We presented this video around some of our teams. At this time the larger team I was working on was having various partnerships with Google’s marketing incubation team, exploring ways of collaborating. Part of team and sibling teams were working on simplifying travel, and this was created to show how much farther we could connect the user journey.
This was also a point in my career where I was learning that even with best intentions to use internal location accurate data, with travel plans, your present and future location to create these moments of delight would be troublesome in places like Europe.
